Dear fellow members of the Korean Association of International Studies,
The new year of 2025, the year of the Blue Snake, has arrived.
We hope that our members will always have a year full of health and peace in their homes and that their wishes will come true.
At a time when uncertainty and instability are rapidly deepening at home and abroad, I would like to convey my greetings to the members on behalf of the executive team as I take on the important responsibility of being the president of the KAIS, which boasts history and tradition.
First, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to former President Ma Sang-Yoon and the executive team for leading the KAIS well in 2024 despite difficult circumstances.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Liberation. In order to look back on South Korea’s status and capabilities, which have proudly grown into an advanced power recognized by the international community despite all kinds of hardships and adversity, and to come up with measures that can help provide insight to wisely navigate these chaotic times, we will energetically discuss various related issues.
In the face of diverse challenges, we will actively utilize various media to emphasize communication and exchange by publicizing awareness of academic issues.
In addition, in order not to be swayed by the trends in a rapidly changing situation, we are looking at the methods and systems in which we have been active to date, and ways to develop the KAIS's own capabilities and self-reliance and easily reach out to more people.
In addition, we will not neglect efforts to cooperate with other associations, institutions, and organizations to contribute academically to finding solutions to the various challenges and difficulties in our society.
Dear members, in a situation where many things are still uncertain and difficult to predict, the KAIS will continue to patiently move forward in 2025 based on common sense and principles. To this end, we ask for your warm interest, encouragement, and sometimes sharp criticism from our members.
I hope that in 2025, you will always be healthy and achieve all that you desire.
Thank you!
On behalf of the 2025 Executive Board,
Ph.D. Tae-Hyung Kim
The 69th president of the KAIS
